Loft extension..who to use?

Postby Pc1008 » Mon Feb 23, 2015 8:50 pm

Hi, we are a looking to do a loft extension. Can anyone recommend a good company? We have talked to landmark, South London lofts, absolute lofts and more than lofts so far. Mixed reviews on all.
Thanks

Dont use Lofts and Extensions of Teddington. (dontmove-extend.com)We are having major issues with them and despite the fact we have a contract they are trying to wriggle out of every issue.

Hi! For all types of extensions and other building works I would recommend Lifestyle Design and Build - www.lifestylebyasq.co.uk They did amazing job in my house, resolved all the issues quickly and I was constantly in touch with them during the project. Good luck with your extension!

Look for an Architect instead of a Design & Build Company.
An architect might cost a little more but the amount of value added to your project could be substantial.
Don’t forget to discuss your budget. It’s important to be up front from the get-go. First of all, you need to make sure what you’re proposing is possible. Construction costs can vary considerably, and just because the guy who fixed a leak in your attic says the project can be done for X pounds doesn’t mean it actually can.

An architect will be able to get you the best design for your property, recommend trustworthy and experienced pros, guide your investment, protect your interests during construction and save you time and money during the whole process.
Always look for registered architects and ask for several quotes before making your decision. Ensure you have all design services covered from inception to completion. Don’t be afraid to ask, you are not meant to know what it is required. Ask for building regulation compliance drawings and if you need any advice you can always ask at the RIBA institution. There is a section dedicated for Clients.
Good Luck in your search. I leave you the links for ARB and RIBA organisations. You would be able to find an architect searching by post code.

get the design you want, not the design, programme and contract that best suits the builder. using an architect unquestionably allows you to make the decisions with all pieces of the jigsaw in your control.
we are architects - and we are lucky to work on some lofts that the usual large loft companies see as 'problems'. one example is our spankingly nice proposal for a loft in Merton......it doesnt take a lot to make something so much nicer.

Try Clarabee - great company I have used them recently on a Kitchen extension and I know they have done plenty of lofts too - they are great to deal with and take the stress out of the project for you. Plus have a great team of builders / recommendations / interiors - give them a call... Good luck they are amazing you will love them....
