Dear all,
Welcome to another instalment of the Queenstown Police Update.
One or two crime “lowlights” to share with you this week…
There was a theft snatch opposite Battersea Dogs and Cats Home at a little past 9am last Monday (16th). A young lady, the victim, was not injured at all and is ok. Her bag was taken. Fortunately there was nothing valuable in it. We’ve no leads for this crime but we are ensuring that we’ve checked all possible CCTV options. If you have any information regarding this, please ring either us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting 0324800/15.
There was a dwelling burglary in Thessaly Road between Wednesday the 18th and Friday the 20th. Entry was gained via an unlocked window. A suspect has been identified and arrested for this offence.
On Tuesday the 16th, Bruce attended a residents’ association meeting on the Savona Estate to hear concerns about anti social behaviour in the area. As I’ve mentioned before, we have been patrolling this area and will continue to do so. Our ongoing work here involves partner agencies such as Wandsworth Borough Council as well as other police teams at Wandsworth.
As well as patrols of Battersea Park this week, the team have attended a mental health assessment and assisted our Borough Tasking Team with a Theft Act warrant in the Queenstown Road area. A number of items were recovered during the warrant, including two high value watches and a stolen moped. No arrests have been made but enquiries are ongoing.
No abstractions for me this week, however I did attend a “Digital 101” workshop at New Scotland Yard on Tuesday afternoon. The MPS are looking to develop a system whereby we can deal with the receipt and dispatch of incidents submitted to us via social media. They wanted practitioners who were familiar with social media and police processes to work through some scenarios in order that this input could be developed into actual working practice and procedure. Apparently, someone put my name forward as knowing something about social media?
Remember that our Christmas Tree Project is up and running again this year (I forgot to mention it in last week’s mailshot). This is where we ask the public to donate presents to be given to children this Christmas who, for one reason or another, might not receive a present.
The team are on duty Wednesday through Saturday next week (week commencing 23rd of November), working until 2am on the Friday and Sunday.
Stay safe and kind regards,
Nathan
