Separation of Stomach Muscles after birth - Physio rec?

Postby sw12mummi » Mon Nov 30, 2015 1:31 pm

Hi there
can anyone recommend a good physio in the area who specialises in issues associated with pregnancy and birth? In particular I need to see someone who can assess how bad the separation of my stomach muscles are etc?
thanks

www.balancephysio.com. Sally specialises in women's issues and was particularly helpful with separation. They are based on Gauden Road by Clapham North overground.

I highly recommend Christien Bird at White Hart Clinic in Barnes. She wil work with you to repair your separation as well as any pelvic floor issues. If you book a postnatal MOT with her, she will give you a full assessment of both and work from there.

Hello, I had a two finger plus separation after two c sections (diagnosed by my dr). I went straight to a specialising post natal recovery trainer who had closed the gap pretty much completely after four visits (six weeks). It requires some serious personal motivation - I still do 30 mins of abdominal excercises daily 8 months in - but my tummy is in the best shape ever. He taught me to use muscles I never knew existed. Have a look at yummytummies.co.uk, he is called Lyndon littlefair. Thoroughly nice guy too.

My tummy muscles are still not back after two years - largely because I didn't know what to do about it and was warned sit ups could make it worse. I'd be keen to find a trainer who can help. I did go for a physio assessment... it wasn't that good and admittedly I was still breast feeding so let go of the exercises. My fault :( :(
If anyone knows any other rally good trainers wh can help close the gap I'd been keen to hear too. Hope you find someone to assess you SW12mummi.

Hi Editrix,
I was in the same position, two years later and still a separation.

I cannot recommend Sarah highly enough ... she gets lots of praise from many NVN'ers over various previous posts.

This is a link to my earlier post.

You could try post natal Pilates. I'm a mum of four, post natal Pilates teacher and also do post natal personal training. If the exercises are done correctly they are brilliant for getting your gap back together, also the correct exercises help with pelvic floor strength, any postural issues that need attention post birth and also can help you get back on track and feel a bit more human again!!
I'm more than happy to have a chat with you and answer any questions you might have. Michelle 0777 919 3221 michelle@mojo-me.london
