charmed I am sure. Why not discuss it sensibly rather than chuck silly comments about. Try to be nice.

1. There is nothing wrong with being a nimby at all. Nimby is a pejorative term but also a dumb and meaningless one. Why should I not be against something which I think will be a massive negative to my life? I bet that you would not wish to 'take one for the team' on your house price now would you? Many in Balham will during the 10 years of the build. Did you chose your house regardless of its proximity to a rubbish dump/main road/likelihood of plummeting value etc? No you did not. So what does that make you?
2. No one in their right mind would want these works near them and they will continue for nearly ten years thus being a life changing inconvenience;
3. London does not need this. In all likelihood it will be entirely negative for Balham flooding it with more commuters. it will make commenting terrible;
4. House prices near this in Balham will be negatively effected;
5. The build will create a terrible place to live for many in Balham and will kill businesses and jobs.

Unless you have something sensible to say then why say it?

I've said it before...

Better transport infrastructure is BETTER for house prices not worse! It just IS. Look at the current cross rail locations, it's been great for them.

We just DO need more transport infrastructure. It's nonsense to say otherwise. London's population is set to increase from 8.6m to 11m by 2050 (says Boris). We can't rely on the Victorian rail network forever.

We can't plan cities around a few relatively wealthy people's concerns about house prices (or Waitrose). It's not what will (or should) define London's future.

Your comments are not true and mere opinion. You are not the oracle on this even though you think that you are.

1. there is a LOT of statistical evidence that says that in the vicinity of the station houses lose value dramatically and those that gain will be at the end of the line outside of London.

2. London does not need millions more people coming in and out of it flooding our already strained network. Balham will be swamped by people coming in from out of town and changing to the northern line here. There is a lot on this too. let them go work elsewhere. otherwise we are not easing congestion but creating it. You cannot simply just always add more and more layers of people in a City. Enough is enough. Let somewhere else have the investment and pollution and so forth.

NOT EVERYONE AGREES WITH YOU AND THERE IS A LOT OF STATISTICAL EVIDENCE SHOWING THAT YOU ARE JUST WRONG.

IN ADDITION NOT EVERYONE WHO WILL BE HURT IS WEALTHY AND BEING WEALTHY DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOUR RIGHTS SHOULD BE OVERRIDDEN.

I guess that you do not liver here BTW. You do not seem to give two hoots about Balham. if so why bother posting at all.

House prices are not a factor for me. They're already sky high.

it's the traffic congestion, the noise and disruption that makes me anxious.

We've seen some great local, independent businesses popping up in Balham in the past few years that have given the town real character. I think Crossrail could well be the death knell for them.

Naturally, I can see the benefits Crossrail 2 will bring to people living further out but, as far as I can see, for the people of Balham there's no real advantage.

So I'll be able to get to Kings Road in 15 minutes instead of 25.
