6 month rental

Postby hhirst » Tue Jan 19, 2016 4:01 pm

Hi all,

We potentially need somewhere to live for 6 months from March whilst we get work done on a new property. Any ideas on where the best place is to start looking?

Hello,

Our company specialises in and deals only in short term lets. Perhaps we can help - either for the entire 6 months or perhaps even just a few days or weeks, if you need to fill a gap. Our office number is 0208 6735 8308 and website is http://www.madison-hill.com .

Please get in touch if you think we can assist - we're happy to help in anyway we can.

Kind regards,

Julie Madison

Gumtree is good. I rent out a flat via gumtree and have never had anything other than lovely professionals. Definitely worth checking out but do bear in mind that it involves dealing direct with landlords generally so exercise caution re handing money over etc.

When we did building work we rented a place for 6 months also. If you want to go down the estate agent route, rather than get stung for a short let which commands a large premium versus the standard market rates, look at long term rentals at market rate, don¨t mention needing to move out after 6 months but get a 6 month break clause written into the contract, which usually requires a 2 month notice period and then after 4 months, give notice to quit after 6. There are no penalties for doing that.
