Electrician

Postby mum-from-tooting » Mon Mar 28, 2011 3:43 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know of a good and reliable electrician? We are trying to fit a ceiling fan in our room in the loft conversion as it is already starting to get really hot but need someone who can confirm if this is ok and give us a fair quote.
If any of you know of someone trustworthy, would be grateful for their details
Thank you :)

Hey mum-from-tooting

I use a fantastic guy called Jon Bridges for all of my clients, and my, electrical needs. He is fab and not VAT registered so his hourly rate of £50 per hour is very reasonable. He is polite, well spoken and incredibly efficient. His details are below.

For the guy Emma recommonded as following, I used him for my house. He is efficient, nice but not good. He came around, checked everything, did not find the problem and he said he suspect it is a rat bite in the house which cause the leak of electricity. He said the best way is to dig out the floor everything to find the leak, which of course impossible.

Therefore, he recommonded to change the position of the cables( Certain cable fuse are less sensitive than others). The sockets work, I paid him 80 pounds. Everything was fine.

Two days later, all the lights in the bathroom and staircase broke down. Until now I have not got them fixed and I don't feel comfortable calling him again. I called another company to fix the problem. Another electrican said it is impossible for a house like us to have rat, at most is mice and they don't really bite cables.

I have used these guys for a couple of recent jobs like fitting new plugs. They were flexible, prompt, very polite / tidy and even charged me less that the estimate.... Also the chap repaired a flickering lamp that I asked him about as he was on his way out of the door and didn't charge me for it!

Eva, 2 points!

1) Don't call MK - I could not recommend them in the slightest!

2) Really you should have given the original chap another chance, or at least got him to refund you what you paid him.
