Would love to know.

If you can also share which school I'd also be very interested.

Today is national offer day for secondary schools, which can be very stressful.

We know from our years of experience that many children do not get offered their first choice of secondary school straight away. We always encourage families to accept the school they have been given, but stay on the waiting list of their preferred schools. This way at least they have an assured space for their child and this does not in any way reduce the validity of their request for their reserve place. The outcome of waiting lists is purely related to the number of spaces which become available (with offered children not accepting) and where on the waiting list your child is based on admissions criteria.

Wandsworth have published an interesting document that details how they have allocated school places for children starting Year 7 this September. It's a useful indicator as to how catchment areas have shrunk/grown since last year's allocation.

If any parents with Year 5 children are considering tutoring for a selective school place, I have a couple of places in my Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning Test Club which runs on Wednesdays after school in Furzedown. Please contact me for further details. I am fully DBS checked and can provide references.

We got 1st choice, a sibling place at Graveney (very lucky I know). Some surprises amongst my son's Year 6 classmates, though with quite a few not getting 1st, 2nd or even 3rd choices and a couple we know of being allocated a school right on the otherside of the borough that they hadn't even applied to.

Was Graveney your first choice? Is it the secondary school closest to you? We are in Earlsfield and the closest secondary to us is Southfield but we will not put it on our list.

Yes it is our closest school and it was our first choice but the catchment area is tiny. I'm not sure what your alternatives are if you live in Earlsfield.
As far as I know, there don't seem to be any secondary free schools planned for the area so I don't know how the increased primary school population will be accommodated as it reaches secondary school age. Very worrying.

I agree! It is also shameful to have a secondary school like Southfield with great facilities and big enough to be able to accomodate a good number of pupils from the Earlsfield/Southfield area and let it become a no go place! :x
