would appreciate recommendations from anyone who has already had a loft conversion done.
We've had quotation from South London Lofts - just wondering who else we should go to for a quotation?

Hello there 

Just noticed your post. We have had our loft converted along wth a small rear extension to the kitchen just before Christmas by a fabulous small company Elmleigh Construction. After having several rather frustrating companies in to give me extortionate quotes i decided to go with this company purely on recommendation from a friend. A helpful guy called Daniel came round to assess the works that needed doing, went away and within a few days I had a very competitive quote via email. We decided to go ahead and I received a schedule of works detailing everything and a breakdown of all costs. The quality of the work and attention to detail was second to none and both my husband and I are very happy with our gorgeous house.
We have two boys and im expecting a third, we stayed at home while the works were done, we sat down and discussed with them before what it would be like. They went through everything and said that there would be a few days when if we could it would be best to go away which we appreciated.
Its not easy to live on what is effectively a building site but if you can find someone who you can trust then its worth paying a little extra.

I would always advise getting a fair few quotes and following up on recommendations. Can't go wrong.

Hi there,
I have just recently used a company called Simply Loft. They are a fairly new company I believe, but the workmanship was great and probably one of the most competitive quotes we had after seeing a few companies.

I would definitely reccommend them - their owner Rob was extremely helpful and even though there were a few unforeseen problems, they were dealt with quickly and efficiently, without costing any more. I must say that is probably one of the huge benefits of this company - they quote fixed price and stay fixed price!
