Anyone here have children at this school?
We have been offered a place but it means taking our son out of the wonderful Rutherford House, and as we live in tooting the logistics are challenging.
Love to hear anyone's experience of the school and if any tooting/Balham dwellers would be up for a car share. Thanks in advance, Olivia

Congratulations on the place offered.
The least I can say about L'ecole des Petits os that it is a wonderful school, two of my children went there and they both enjoyed it and learned a lot in a nice atmosphere.
One is still there and he is leaving this year and the other one left the school two years ago.
The only reason is that we live 5min from Belleville school in Clapham and it made more sense to go to a local school rather than travel to Fulham.
I have to say that the travel and logistics were difficult especially when having two children going to two different schools. Even though the school isn't far the traffic is horrendous. If you take 295 from Clapham junction you have to take it at 8:15am. By car it is shorter. At some point we shared lifts with another family who lived in Clapham which made it easier.
Even said that, I didn't regret a day in that school. The teachers are wonderful and very caring.

Children come from nurtured families which combined with small classes and focus on academics lead to a good level (Main advantage).

A lot of pressure on teachers and high turnover

A worrying number of children are stressed

leadership is rigid and all efforts are on academics

Teachers lack training and experience with young children and seem overwhelmed. Some complain continuously.

There seem to be a problem with boys in this school (blaming, shaming, excluding, threatening...)

Tiny external space and very small classes

High increasing fees for parents

Not part of The EYFS. Parents are not entitled to the 15h free hours (approx 3000£ / year). The school doesn’t need to follow the british early years framework

Some classes with problems of discipline lead to unhappy children, parents and teachers

families are dominantly french

The budget seems to be tight. Teachers are asked to clean the classes.

That is a very french approach that you have described - doesnt surprise me at all (I am French) thats why i refused for my children to enter the French system.

Having said that, I also find the 7+, 11+ and 13+ of the english system dreadful for the children mental wellbeing. To subject them to so much pressure at such a young age (however much parents play it down “it is to find the beat school for you” etc. At the end of the day you still have to take to 10/11 yrs old to sit an exam with hundreds of others) is detrimental. Such competition to select kids is unnecessary and doesnt even bring the english schools at the top of leagues if you compare it with other countries.

In my opinion, if you can find a great school with a secondary school attached go there.
