Burglary

Postby greybird » Mon Apr 25, 2016 11:12 am

Woke up Sunday morning to find somebody had scaled our 2m high side wall (we are an end of terrace), opened our double-bolted and heavy cross-barred gate, and relieved us of a bike. Then discovered they had further scaled the wall (not an easy thing, believe me) into our neighbour's to have their bike away too. Bizarrely, not one plant pot was disturbed (my yard is a veritable obstacle course of them) not one other thing out of place. Fortunately, my neighbour has CCTV and picked it all up at 1.40am. Here's what freaks me - I was up and all the lights downstairs were on, yet I heard nothing. Brazen. I'm not too into "what-ifs" but it wouldn't be that uncommon for me to be putting the bins out at that time of night….
I don't wish to frighten anyone, but please be aware. Whilst I didn't think it impossible, it's no easy feat back-yard hopping…..and all for very nondescript bikes.

Bad times in SW11 on that front ... I heard yesterday that one of my neighbours was burgled at 1pm in the afternoon on a weekday. They started with the upstairs flat and when my neighbour heard them and tried to stop them he was punched by one of them and they ran away. Its the thought that they try and burgle a house in day light in a fairly busy street that really shocks me.

It's nothing new, and not the first time for us, but it really p*sses me off. I hope your neighbour has recovered X

There have been a number of bike thefts breaking into sheds in the sw12 and sw11 area. My neighbors and ourselves have been victims in early Feb off Nightingale lane. The police were terrific so do make sure you show them your cctv. And they will come round to check for evidence. You can contact the neighborhood policing team on 020 8247 8691

Too many overweight plods in the Met sitting around in stations drinking coffee and pushing around bits of badly written paperwork.

The majority of plods in the Met live outside the M25. Unlike you and me their commute is free so the economics work. I hope that Sadiq Khan will introduce new rules similar to those in New York requiring plods in the Met to live in Greater London.
