Extension classes withdrawn at Fircroft

Postby rooting4tooting » Mon May 09, 2016 8:07 am

Hello,
Parents were informed last week of the new system of continuous assesment being introduced as part of the new national curriculum. Done deal, that's that, that's fine.
But as a consequence all extension classes will be scrapped from the start of the next school year.
Is this the same in your state primary or only Fircroft?

It's not going to be the same at all schools as each will make their own decisions on how best deliver the national curriculum.

Just the same way not all schools would have had these classes to begin with.

I have since written to the Head at Fircroft asking that maths and literacy afterschool clubs are introduced to make up for the loss of educational aminity by withdrawing extension classes.
I would like to hear about whether your state primay are withdrawing their extension classes.

I would be very surprised if there wasn't compensating teaching and learning elsewhere in the school week to make up for it..

what about the *after school* classes particular is so important to you?
