I used to go privately to Battersea Rise Dental, but moved myself and children to Clapham South Dental, as the children are covered there under the NHS, which has saved me a lot of money, for what I see as very little difference in the level of care. Both are good.
My bills for both the dentist and hygienist are less, not massively so, maybe £20 less per session, but it all adds up, and I felt I was being encouraged to go too many times to the private place, 3-4 times a year for the hygienist, whereas Clapham South said twice is perfectly fine. Privately they wanted way more X-rays as well, nice earner. (Both tell me to floss more but I think I knew that already!) I am lucky that I have good teeth and haven't required much work. I have had slightly tricky fillings in both places, privately you are given numbing gel, soothing music, videos, and more TLC, Clapham South has been a bit more functional (brutal) but I just take a neurofen before I go.
At Clapham South the kids have always seen the same dentist and he is really nice and good with them, they have been fitted in for various emergencies quickly and easily, and been sorted out. The post check-up "have a sticker" choice is more extensive privately, but that is hardly the overriding consideration.
Plus..........it was Clapham South Dental that Usain Bolt dropped into after the 2012 Olympics as a friend of his worked there, not sure if that it is still the case but gets the kids there enthusiastically!
