kitchen nightmare

Postby Purplesorout » Sat Jul 02, 2016 12:46 pm

Help! I am having a nightmare with a local kitchen design company who is fitting my kitchen. Should i just cut my losses? Is it better to walk away than soldier on with a supplier where the costs keep escalating through no fault of mine. Anyone else had an bad experiences and how did they handle it? Would be interested to hear.

If I were you, I would ask your current company for a budget (in writing) for everything to finish the project, as well as a timeline for completion. Then I would get other companies in, to price and time the project (also in writing). You can then compare the results and make your decision at that point.

If your current company refuses to give such estimates, then that's a bad sign. Remember that you are always the boss and they must do what you ask!

Thanks for advice. Unfortunately I paid them upfront for worktops and splashback. Now they are not refunding me the full amount and have charged extras, which were not discussed previously. I am appalled at their customer service too, really rude and abrupt. This is a cautionary tale but I don't understand how they can afford to do business like this when your reputation is everything. Word of mouth is really important.

That sounds horrible! Any way you can get them to give you the splashbacks and worktops you paid for and then have someone else install them? I wish you the best of luck. And make sure to post if someone else on here is considering using whoever it is! It sounds like these guys are really difficult. It might be better to cut your losses...

Yes thanks it's been horrendous! I obviously can't say who they are on this open forum but from now on I will only use services on recommendation and never get swayed by any advertorials appearing in property magazines from kitchen design companies. Watch out everyone looking for a new kitchen there could be hidden costs and beware any company that insists on providing the whole package! Source your own worktops it's far cheaper.
