Estate Agency recommendation SW18 - sales

Postby Mrs.AAA » Mon Nov 21, 2016 1:29 pm

Hello all,

Given that so many of you have potentially used excellent/good/bad/ugly estate agencies at least once, I thought I'd ask the experts!

My husband and I are definitely putting our house (5 bed, fully renovated & extended) on the market, but we're unsure who to use. We are located in SW18 Wandsworth not too far from the Tonsleys. Any personal recommendations of estate agencies out there for this type of house? Could you explain why you'd use them, or not? We don't want to be "hoodwinked" into thinking our house is worth a certain amount and then sitting on the market for ages. Yes, we're aware the market is slow too, but we really have a lovely home. We'd really like to work with a reputable and honest agency - an agency which has a strong reputation in the area among Nappy Valley Net users.

Thank you in advance!
Mrs.AAA :)

I am in SW18 too and sold my house through Savills and bought through John D Wood. What proved to be a headache for us was being under offer at the same time as making an offer on another property. It never seemed to match and took a long time (caveat: I am very picky and was looking for a gutting job which are few and far between and don't stay long on the market). I was under offer for a while with nothing to buy so lost the buyer. And there were more properties on the market than now, quite a lot more. So I would say it depends on your situation and what you want to buy next.
If the onwards house is not an issue, then I would go for either Savills or John D Wood, either are great, with a preference for Savills as I know them better. Saying this both teams in each agency have changed and so much is down to your relationship with the estate agent. I dealt with Emma at Savills who was the best but she is now working from Hampshire.
I really liked Knight Frank and found them to be the ones who got prices spot on, but they re fairly high end. I would go with either of the three, whichever one you prefer when they come to see you.
