Not an exact answer, but I've used Bloom & Wild many times for one-off gifts, and the recipients have always been delighted. I know that they do subscription offers, too.

Hello,

I totally second Freddies Flowers - we have used them for the past year and a half, they are great and a local business. I have friends who use them also and are equally happy. They source some great bouquets.

They come in recyclable packaging and helpful tips on how to arrange them, really good.

I have used Bloom and wild before and they are quite good, but more for one off bouquets. I gave the once a month bouquet to a friend last year and was not always that impressed at the flowers delivered - you get a lot less than what you get from Freddies Flowers both in terms of abundance and variety.

Hope that helps

If you want super-fresh flowers and live in or near Balham you don't necessarily need either to buy by post or go to Covent Garden. The flower stall in Balham (Hildreth Street) market has the best and freshest flowers I've ever bought (including Covent Garden). He buys them direct from Holland - I have some red roses from him which I bought a few days before Christmas eve and they're only starting to wilt a bit now! And incredibly reasonable prices too.

I used to get Freddie's Flowers, but found some of the bouquets a bit "plain", they didn't last as long as I had hoped, and I didn't think £20 was value for money compared to even supermarket flowers.

Of course your experience may vary, they don't have a minimum commitment so you can try them for a few weeks.

Our experience with Freddie's Flowers has only been positive. I think £20 is very reasonable for what you get, the equivalent in a florist would be a lot more and the variety not available in the supermarket. We have had a huge verity of flowers over the last 6 months. Some weeks it is a bunch of the same flowers e.g. Peonies, sunflowers or for Christmas some stunning amaryllis, but most weeks it is a mix of flowers and foliage including some quite unusual varieties. They come well packaged and with guidance about how to arrange them nicely. They last extremely well as they are delivered in bud, to the extent that I only get a delivery every other week. I think they have an offer on at the moment whereby your first bunch is free. Nothing to lose!

Totally agree with mungomuffit about the guy on Hildreth St - I always buy my flowers there (and some plants for window boxes etc) and he is great value as the flowers are super-fresh, very long-lasting and not second quality as some market-type flowers are. I'm embarrassed not to know his name after all this time but it is always a pleasure buying from him as he and his staff are all lovely. Good to support your local small businesses too! I'm not sure whether Freddie's Flowers is actually local but, if it is, also good to use - I never have but lots of friends/neighbours do and think it's great. Depends on your available time and how much you like to choose your own, I guess.

Second Freddie's flowers. Have used them for about 10 months and really pleased with the variety and the style. They are beautiful flowers. The customer service is also very good: you can hold a delivery if you go away and if there is a mistake, they refund you. Really good find.

I also get Freddie's. However, they are delivered by a delivery driver, not by mail. They leave them on your doorstep and you leave out last week's box for them to take away. I'm generally pretty happy with the quality although it does vary from week to week and sometimes they don't really seem to be £20 worth (e.g. when we got a giant box of daffodils, which cost about £1 for three bunches at the local supermarket). I did a flower arranging class with Bloomon who also deliver boxes of flowers, but they have a rather random selection of flowers (whereas Freddie's have about three or four different types, sometimes only one) and I think Freddie's is better (and cheaper).

That's why I cancelled -- you pay for the convenience of having flowers delivered to your door, with no choice over flowers/colours/etc.
