TV delivery - scam? Post Reply

For the second time in a couple of months, someone has tried to deliver a second hand TV to my house (correct address on the box but wrong name). It's just a man with an unmarked van. The TV is in an open box.

I live in SW12

Has this happened to anyone else? I don't know if it's an error or a scam / someone trying to get into the house.

Hmmm that sounds really really odd.

I'll "tweet" this to the local police.

They're very good at coming back to us and hopefully we'll get some feedback.

Interesting, wonder if it is a slight variant on this scam - essentially people ordering to 'wrong' addresses, hoping the goods are accepted out of confusion, then 're-collecting' before the vendor has a chance to.

The delivery may therefore be legitimate, but someone else is out to follow up with a dubious collection shortly thereafter.

Having said that, second hand televisions don't seem an especially good way to try to do this as they're big things that customers won't be too willing to accept - and they're not very high value.
