Acupuncture for fertility, IVF in Clapham? Post Reply

Hello all

I wanted to know if anyone has tried acupuncture for assisting in fertility for IVF? Did it help in actually getting pregnant or was it more for your general well being.
I have been referred for IVF and am confused whether I should try this. Will really appreciate any personal experiences and any recommendations in Clapham.

Unfortunately not based in Clapham but I have been to Sing Sing, based in London Bridge http://www.xinsheng.co.uk/about-me.html and would recommend her. She is extremely knowledgeable about all things relating to fertility and is very easy to talk to, she felt a bit like a counsellor! I'm not sure how much the acupuncture helped me to get pregnant (I had acupuncture on and off for about 8 months without conceiving naturally) but I've been pregnant twice through IVF (sadly the first ended in a miscarriage) and I had acupuncture both times in the month or so leading up to treatment. There seems to be a lot of research out there that acupuncture can assist with conceiving so I went with the view that it certainly couldn't do any harm and I find it very relaxing. There's a guy called John Wheeler who has some rooms in a clinic in Battersea on Lavender Hill (Google him) He specialises in fertility acupuncture and does alot of work with IVF patients.
I used him when i was wanting to conceive and had been trying for a while, although i wasnt doing IVF admittedly, and had a very successful outcome. He definitely knows his stuff and I would support the theory that acupuncture complements fertility treatment.
