Our kitchen is Howdens and if I had my time again I wouldn't use them.
They were great in the lead up but after sales service was poor. And a real bug bear for me was that their kitchens look great in the design but aren't practical in reality.
For example, we wanted a wall mounted microwave. They had a cabinet for it and so we thought it was straight forward. It wasn't until installation that we realised no microwave on the market fits in that cabinet, except for the one Howdens sells (which is a non name brand, gets poor reviews, and wont even fit a dinner plate). Howdens weren't remotely helpful in getting us a resolution such as a list of branded microwaves that could fit in the space. We finally found a branded microwave that fit but it required us to knock through the wall to give us the depth needed to install it and to this day, we ony have one dinner plate that fits inside the microwave.
There were other similar examples, but that's the one that still stands out for me after all this time.
As for fitting, we used our own builder which I think is quite common.
