Can anyone tell me anything about the Nightingale Montessori Nursery?

There is availability for my little boy to go there when we move to London later this year, but I'm not going to be able to come up for a visit for a month or so, so any low down before I pay a registration fee is handy.

I don't know anything about Nightingale BUT I do know there are places available at Broomwood Montessori which is off the Broomwood Road in the Methodist church.

It is a fantastic nursery which has been run by the same 2 ladies since it began. My daughter has been there for 2 years and has absolutely thrived. We have just moved out of the area and she is absolutely distraught she has had to change nursery!

We love nightingale Montessori. My eldest daughter went there and my middle daughter is there now. The teachers are brilliant and there is very low staff turnover which speaks volumes. The little ones are very well taken care off and enaged, the classes from outside specialists are great. Everyone I know who goes there really likes it. Happy to discuss more if you want details.

We visited, and each room is very tiny. So is the garden. Whilst on paper it ticked all the boxes, we decided it did not work for us. We are both working and will have our child full time there, and it felt too small and therefore sad for us. We visited every other nursery in the area with full-time places and got impressed by none of them. In the end we didn't buy the house we were in the process of buying because we cannot find the right place for our child to spend the next 3 years there. Sorry it's not great news but if I were you I'd move somewhere else or get a nanny.

I don't think we are talking about the same nursery! Our nightingale nursery has a huge garden and two big rooms. It's not a full time nursery (it runs two sessions, one morning one until 12.15 and one afternoon one until 3.30) and children don't spend 3 years there, it's normally 2 (they start after the age of 2 and leave for reception at 4). Are you sure you are referring to the nightingale Montessori on ramsden road (next to st Luke's church)?

I would like to echo previous posts. My 3rd child has gone to Broomwood Montessori and it really is a fantastic nursery. A breath of fresh air! It's very personalised and allows the children to learn in a friendly nurturing environment. The teachers have been there for years and are very experienced & commited. My daughter has been incredibly happy there and it has been the most enjoyable nursery experience we've all had! I would thoroughly recommend sending your little ones there.

Hands down best nursery around (see recent ofsted and Montessori ratings), with top quality nurturing teachers and the biggest garden in the area as well with actual grass (to the best of my knowledge). Most others just have a strip of asphalt or have to walk the kids to Clapham or Wandsworth Common. I have a very active boy who started just after he was two and he just loves it. The engaging activities inside the calm and not to cluttered classroom are balanced well with outdoor playtime and external teachers brought in to teach music, ballet, french and football. We're out for break now and my son asks to go back to be with his favourite teacher and friends. It is very social, the PTA organises activities outside of school about once a month and there is a nice mix of working and stay at home mothers. We all coordinate after school playdates with each other and the nannies as well. It's fairly international but changes with each class. The highest percentage are British, European and American. A large portion are going to Broomwood this year but also local primaries, Thomas's, Hornsby House, Eaton House, etc. That changes every year too. I visited many nurseries and schools before choosing this one- that's really the best way to choose if you can.

There was another similar post on this a few weeks ago - might be worth having a look for it.

My middle child is currently there (my eldest also went) and he adores it! The two of them are totally different characters and it worked well for both of them- in no small part due to the fantastic staff and inclusive montessori approach.

The nursery doesn't seem to blow its own trumpet ever and is a bit of a hidden gem between the commons (doesn't have the hype that other nurseries seems to have) and I think that is a good thing- it means that it seems to attract very balanced, down to earth families.

What attracted us was how kind and gentle the children are towards each other - it really is amazing that really is encouraged by the setting and approach. The garden - WOW!! Unparalleled anywhere in the area and so much of the social skills are learnt with their friends out there.

We love it - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

My daughter is currently attending their sister school, Nightingale 2 Montessori (off Weir Rd) and she absolutely loves it. They just received an Ofsted Outstanding rating (previously categorised as Good) and they have a huge room and good sized garden. I'm very happy that tuition covers french lessons, ballet and more, since most nurseries request additional money for those classes. I believe both schools are run relatively similarly, so I'd absolutely recommend it.

Sounds like this one is a winner! If only they offered full time places!

Worth a look at Elm Park Montessori nursery by Abbeville Road, if the travel is not too inconvenient. Great teachers, great facilities, and an absolutely massive garden. Our daughter has been v happy there.
