Easter Skiing Holiday Recommendations

Postby asouth » Fri Apr 21, 2017 9:10 pm

We are looking to go skiing next Easter. There will be 4 children in our party ages 4 - 6 who will have never been before. I doubt they will be very happy about going into ski school!!
Has anyone just been away with a ski company, to a resort, hotel, used a ski school that was fantastic with young children.
All recommendations and advice welcome.
Many thanks

Try Trysill in Norway - super child friendly and great snow conditions

We went to la plagne with mark warner the first week of the Easter holidays with a 3 and 7 year old (first time skiing for both).
The child care/ski school was amazing. We dropped the children off at 9am fully kitted out - in the groups, the ski nannies took them to ski school (about a 10 min walk for them in ski boots). The children got picked up and brought back to the hotel and given lunch (we chose from a menu the night before). They would do lots of fun activities in the afternoon - sledging, bubble rides, snow angels and treasure hunts. We took our 7 year old out skiing some afternoons.
They have a kids tea at 5pm - which is fab as my kids are used to eating early (there are other times they can have dinner).
Then at 7.30 you can drop the kids at 'movie night' where you can specify a bedtime. My 3 year old would just head straight to the little beds they set up for them and go to sleep. Then we would have dinner in the hotel, pick the kids up and head back to the room. You do have to sit on big tables with other people so you won't get a cosy table for two. Food was great.
The hotel has seen better days so defo wouldn't reccomend if you're after something nice. There's also quite a loud bar down downstairs so ask for a room away from that - never really bothered us though. If you're after the childcare option I think it does get booked up quite quick.

We went with Ski Espirit when our children were of similar age. Childcare arrangements cannot be faulted.

We've skied twice at Easter time with the kids - always using family-friendly companies:

Once to Alpe D'Huez

Once to Val D'Isere

We skied this year at half term in Les Arcs 1950, and as it's high it's good at Easter. Also, it was one of the best resorts we;ve been to for families

The warmest place around this time within reasonable travel distance is Cyprus or Crete 24 degrees plus. Southern France around 20 degrees but can feel chilly with wind. Otherwise you're looking at middle east which is a bit of a slog. :)
