Pediatric optometrist - private Post Reply

Hi there, I hope somebody can help recommend a paediatric optometrist. My child has a squint in both eyes and I would like to get her seen asap as I've heard this sort of thing needs to be sorted when they are young.

Would anyone be kind enough to recommend a good optometrist? I'm concerned we may already be too late as she's nearly 3.

I think you mean an ophthalmologist. Call Moorfields private and they will find someone for you. I should warn you that unless you have private insurance this will be very expensive as they will need extensive follow up until after the age of 8. Ask your GP for a referral to Moorfields at St Georges and get it all done on the NHS - they are really good for this sort of thing and you will be seen quickly. Strangely if she has a squint in both eyes which is effectively an alternating squint this is less of a problem than just one squint as it is unlikely they will have a lazy eye.

I would highly recommend Gill Adams - she works out of Moorfields and also has a clinic on Great Portland Street. She focuses on children and my son has made the most remarkable improvements in both his sight and squint since being under her care
