Hen do gift ideas

Postby uptheoctave » Sun May 14, 2017 11:57 pm

My friend is in her mid forties and is getting married this year. We're having a small, civilised hen do for her and will present her with some gifts. However, she has everything and I'm at a loss as to what to get for her. I'd really like something thoughtful but keep drawing blanks! Any ideas and suggestions greatly appreciated :)

What about some lovely body products to take on honeymoon? Space NK do some fantastic travel sets - I love aromatherapy associates mini bath/shower oils.
Or a beauty box monthly subscription like glossybox?

Perhaps might be considered naff but could you work on getting her a few things that are "something old something new something borrowed something blue"??? For the actual day?

Our company does a lovely range of personalised gifts. How about a keepsake box to store cards etc from the big day? Or a smart cake tin or ice bucket personalised with the new couple's details?

If you have any ideas of other things you would like to personalise or any specific designs we are happy to help with that too.

Thanks both of you - I personally like those ideas but I know she is extremely discerning when it comes to toiletries and she's quite minimalist too: a cake tin wouldn't wash with her feminism! More info I can think of: she's Buddhist and earthy but also really practical, not fluffy. God, it's so hard to think of something!

I totally understand your desire to present her with gifts but if she's Buddhist and minimalist - would it be best to keep it simple with a card or a thoughtful quote framed ?

If she strives to follow the Buddhist concept of non attachment (especially to material things) Perhaps less is more?
What about a lovely plant? Or beautiful photographic coffee table book like "earth from air" ?

Yes Pod, you're absolutely spot on. Her sister wants us to present her with a small gift over dinner though so although I know she'd rather us contribute to a holiday or something, I don't want to spoil her sister's planning and throw a spanner in the works. Actually, a book is a really lovely idea - thank you!

Perhaps if you do get a book, you could all write in it, or sign it?
Have a great time celebrating with her!

I've organised a reading list book for a friend for a hen. We each had to come up with two books, 1. Our absolute favourite and 2. A good beach read and then just write a bit about why we loved it so much.

I've also been to a hen where we created a recipe book with our favourite recipes in as the bride was a really good cook. The brides sister filled the book with photos we sent her some family one.

They both gave a focus for the hens to give something personal without the bride ending up with lots of small gifts.

Thanks Pod :D

Cyprus19, love the recipe book idea - she's often asked me for various recipes so a plan is coming together!

Hello,
Chocolates are for every occasion. Bringing home an assortment of dark chocolates on the eve of marriage anniversary is a sweet gesture. Similarly, your little one will just go crazy upon receiving a birthday basket full of chocolates. Chocolate dipped strawberries, apricots, or nuts can also be an interesting gifting option. If you are gifting a chocolate gift basket, you can definitely add a bag full of cocoa beans that are used while manufacturing chocolates. Its mesmerizing aroma never fails to enthrall a chocolate lover!
