So the way things look and views that have been there for years should be trampled over....? For what exactly??

Also in case you hadn't noticed the railway line is at ground level and the maximum height of the current industrial estate (LIGHT industrial estate at that - it's not like some 18th century northern cotton mill!) is two stories whereas the proposed buildings are six stories high - a massive difference to the skyline.

There is no point in building homes similar in size to Victorian houses because they can accommodate two families at push. The apartment building design is nice looking and modern and I feel it will enhance the area .I don't understand your comment regarding the noise coming from the apartments.
NICE LOOKING?! It's time you went to Specsavers!
I don't need to go to Specsavers. Not everyone likes to live in a Victorian house not fit for modern living unless you spend a fortune on it. I live in an apartment, spacious and bright with triple glazed windows and underfloor heating. We have not used the heating so far as the apartment is so well insulated .It has plenty of storage and it is easy to maintain. I would never swap it for a older house.

I would have thought it was obvs from my Specsavers comment that I was referring to the proposed visual designs, not old vs new housing. They might well be toasty warm inside but they look very unappeeling from the outside, IMHO

That is your personal opinion.Plenty of houses around that I don't like.

Is it right that a small light industrial and business area should be converted into flats.
Argue about the design later...

In my view, as long as the space of the ground and 1st floors remain for business and light industrial use, they can build 3 floors of flats on top.

To see the planning application for the (in my opinion) over development of this site, go to wandsworth.gov.uk/planning. The planning number is 2017/2678

The plan is for 86 units and a minimum of 1,000sqm of flexible office and or light industrial, assembly and leisure floorspace. Car parking for only 20 cars, 8 of them registered disabled.

The buildings are to be provided in one six-storey block and three four-storey blocks with a single storey link between blocks 1, 2 & 3.

Yes, my understanding it is part of their pension fund

Government and the Mayor's planning policy position is to make the best use of land next to transport hubs.

I haven't looked at the detail but housing in some form above 4 stories would definitely be accepted in principle on the site. 8 think it's just a matter of the detail.

I think the local community should be clearer about what they think would be reasonable scale and form of development on site instead of just flatly objecting.
