St. Thomas's

Postby Love-london » Thu Jun 29, 2017 8:57 pm

Realistically, is there zero chance of my daughter getting into St. Thomas 's Battersea for 2019 or 2020 entry if we have not registered?

Would like to avoid wasting the registration fee if the probability is close to zero...

Also, have I left it too late for other private schools in the area also ? :(

Hi,
From my experience with Thomas's Clapham (no experience with Battersea), it is too late. If you had not registered right at birth, the chances to get on the main list for interviews are very small. They operate a waiting list, but as far as I know, not many children on that list get interviewed. With regards to other school, I think Eaton House The Manor is not as oversubscribed - you surely would end up on a waiting list now too, but I heard that there is still lots of movement up to the year you would start. For Newton Prep in Battersea you can register your child up until the September before they enter.
Hope that helps a bit.

I agree re Thomas's, it will be too late judging by the Clapham one. Parkgate I think might have space for later registrations normally. I think Broomwood have tecently started operating a different system of registration but I'm not sure if it makes it harder to register later or more equal. Hope that helps.

From my experience it might be tough for 2019 but for 2020 it might work at Broomwood and Eton House, we got a place in both of them having registered our child short of 2y before start this September. Eton confirmed place relatively early and as Broomwood do some sort of assessment (but believe checks application date, birthday split and girls/boys) we got into waiting list but then got a place a bit later). Good luck!

There are some great state schools in the SW4/SW11/SW12 area. Maybe have a look at those?

It's also just Thomas's, not st.thomas'. That's the name of the hospital on the southbank....

Thanks all for your replies. I will look into other ones suggested. We are in another area at the moment but thinking of moving...and don't want to waste too much money on registration fees as we have registered with a few in our current area also!
