Garden co. wanted to overhaul small front garden

Postby muckyjeans » Thu Feb 09, 2017 11:40 am

I'm looking for a company to revamp the front garden. It's all hard landscaping rather than planting: gate, railings, paving, Victorian path and York stone porch steps. Anyone got any recommendations?

Hi, we just had our rear garden done by Gorgeous Garden Co. (http://itsgorgeous.com/). Like you we mostly required landscaping (e.g. paving, fencing, steps) rather than planting, so they may be worth getting a quote from. Quality of finish was great and the guys were very polite and friendly to deal with. Also they were very competitive on price. They're based in Balham like us but I think they work widely around SW London.

We had our garden revamped by Asa and his team at The Gorgeous Gardening Co. Our neighbours also had their garden landscaped by them and our adjoining fence replaced, both gardens are now looking excellent! We mainly had landscaping done and Asa was very helpful with design and suggesting materials. We are very happy with their work and would highly recommend them!

I'd like to recommend Sam from 'Shape Landscapes' he's local and very competitive and can be contacted on 07868162670.
He did our landscaping, drive, fences and patio area. I would obtain a quote from him as he was much less than the company mentioned above and did a great job.

We had a bad experience with Asa after he emailed the following "Its been a real pleasure meeting you but Im afraid on reflection we aren't going to be able to continue with your project - I do feel that we have been chasing you a little and Im not sure how well that bodes for receiving future and final payments etc."

This was after Asa called us during a crisis (lost passport on day of travel) and we explained that we had some queries on the quote, timing wasn't right as we needed it doing sooner, and we'd get back to him after the holiday to finalise everything. There was a lot of pressure to pay deposits upfront, etc, but the quote/schedule of works were not finalised and still fluid.

I find it utterly appalling and downright offensive that somebody would send an email like that at a time of crisis, suggesting we’re not good for the money, it was utterly bizarre!

The quotes were always wrong and not completely transparent in terms of the breakdown of labour, materials and contingency, and he was quite expensive compared with others.

I can recommend another company that we opted for after falling out with Asa
