Windows - German ones and other high quality sashes

Postby CDSW11 » Sat Sep 02, 2017 5:07 pm

Hello, I am considering investing (it's the word given the amounts we are looking at) into some superior quality sash windows.
I am looking at German windows, Scandinavian windows, and others that claim to be of higher quality like the ones from London Box Sash company.

Have any of you made the jump and paid for similar windows and got any feedback?

Thanks!

I think your doing the right thing. Ayrton is another company to look at for good quality windows.

We bought windows from wandsorth sash windows a few years ago and they are cracking and falling apart already.

I'll speak to Ayrton but I don't think they use Accoya wood which is said to be the best.

And try Mumfordwood.com - very good windows. Not sure about the wood they use though

Hi

We have just ordered Accoya French doors and a couple of Windows from The Specialist in Traditional Sash Windows in Guildford. Much cheaper than Aryton. So far they have been great to deal with. They will come to you to quote but we visited there Guildford showroom too.

SPS in Southfield also do Accoya

Hope this helps!

We've recently used Ayrton for five new sash windows on our loft conversion and are really pleased with them :D . They were great throughout the process and the team who did the fitting were hard-working, courteous and helpful (even trimmed back our out-of-control wisteria that was out of reach for those of us who don't climb on roofs regularly!). We chose Ayrton again having been very pleased with other new windows they supplied 5 years ago. Not sure about Accoya but they certainly use durable timber - I think it's redwood.
