Ex-Alleyns student looking for a job, preferably in PR, interior design, photography...

Postby foodeditorjo » Tue Sep 12, 2017 2:11 pm

My daughter, 19, left Alleyns with a string of excellent GCSEs but dropped out of a very intensive A level course at Collngham. She doesn't want to go to university but would prefer to find a job/training/apprenticeship. Her chosen areas of interest are interior design, photography and PR. She is very much a 'people' person, intelligent and caring. She is also available for babysitting and has good local references for this. If anyone can offer her some work, ideally with a career structure, or even work experience/internships, please get in touch!

I say this gently, but I think potential employers might be be keener if she posted herself.

I see this regularly, parents posting looking for work for their kids, so it might just be the done thing now, and apologies if so. It always makes me wonder if the child has sufficient initiative to make a good employee though.

I'm sure yours does, she sounds great and I hope you don't mind the feedback and wish her all the best.

Actually she's being extremely proactive and doesn't let me get involved at all which is why I resorted to posting on here where she doesn't have an account. But point taken...

She should take a look at some of the organisations that support apprenticeships such as WhiteHat which is looking to offer "Ivy League apprenticeships" - https://whitehat.org.uk
