Hi
Having read all the (bizarre!!) threads... Annabel advised that there is fireworks here this year in her newsletter but no one seems to know the actual date - is it a Fri or Sat this year? (ie 2016).
And what time do they start?
Thanks

I am the organiser of the event this year on behalf of Finton House School so will try to answer your question. The firework display is a private event for current parents at the 4 consortium schools and their children, so I am afraid no one else will be able to buy tickets or get them from a parent at one of the schools.
The event is on Friday 4th November from 6-8 pm. the actual firework display starts at 7.15 and many people watch from surrounding streets or from the common, although this is obviously at their own risk.
Hope this answers your questions!

Gosh I remember when trinity fields was a open space available for everyone to use! Such a shame this has now changed! Really shame as it's in our local community yet only private schools can use it. Amazing the influence money has on society now!

in responce to mummykane and Finton Lucy.
As long as the schools pay the same going rate as other field users its fine, otherwise its not and and favouritism should be investigated and stopped.

Does anyone know the best place to see them as an "outsider"?

I'm also interested in this, or indeed any other displays on/around the Balham/Wandsworth Common area. We have two little ones so would prefer to keep within a short walking distance.

If you stand anywhere on the big field opposite Bellevue rd you get a pretty good view.
I've had friends report an excellent view from outside the Pizza Express too - however bear in mind the pavement gets busy and light pollution/traffic on trinity road can make it less fun than being a bit further back on the common. (I generally give our kids glow sticks and let them run about like mad things - no crowds to lose them in!)

Thanks for the information on start times. At the risk of sounding particularly dim, are there any obvious yet unforeseen risks I should be looking out for should I watch from a surrounding street?

It will go ahead despite the rain
They only cancel if there are high winds
