Hello,
We have been renting this house in Teddington for 8 years now, the shower has never worked properly. This year in August, the landlord wanted to put up the rent and we agreed to it if he changed several things that we had been asking for so many years, we suggested he could do some of the needed work while we were on holidays. He has decided NOW that its time to send a plumber to have a look, the first one said the whole bathroom has to be redone as it was very badly done and we have water coming down into the living room. The landlord send a second plumber to have a look who said the same. NOW, as water keeps on falling in the living room it seems that it really needs to be done and the landlord asked me if "I am going on holidays anytime soon".
I am not planning to go anywhere, he asked then if we could go to some friends house. What are my rights here? We are not paying little money for this house, could I argue that I don't need to pay a quarter of my monthly rent as I won't be using the house for the week he needs to redo the bathroom?
