Car brokers

Postby Pitterpat » Fri Nov 24, 2017 10:04 am

I am parting with my 9 year old nippy city car and wanting to buy a nearly new and bigger car. Does anyone have any experience of using the services of a car broker and if so, what does it involve? I'm no super savvy with the ins and outs of car buying, so any help appreciated. I've read up on moneysavirngexpert for some tips, but need info on brokers who may help the process. Thanks in advance.

Hi
I could be wrong but...

I think that Car Brokers are a little out-of-date now. I understand that they used to be very good in the days when used car quality was a bit iffy and also before the internet really got going but these days it's easy to find cars and many places are fixed price with guarantees so some of the risk has been removed.

I've heard CarWow is good for new cars but I'd be tempted to go to a Car Giant etc. The service there is shocking but it's cheap and you are protected!

Hope that helps

Thank you tooposhtopush. I feel a bit out of the loop as it's been a loooong time since I bought a new car, so that was all very helpful.

Car brokers are helpful as they have already done the negotiating for you. You would need to go to a garage to test drive but once you know what you want, try their services and see what price they come up with as you can benefit from bulk discount. Broad speed and drive the deal are both good. Also on broadspeed you can easily put together the extras you want and see what it does to the price as price of everything and discount v clear carwow seems good too. I know people who have used them all and would recommend.

John Spooner at Floreat cars is brilliant. I don't want to spend my evenings and weekends kicking tyres of cars i know nothing about. He's found us 4 cars over the years and not a dud amongst them.

Hi Pitterpat,

although I'm an avowed petrolhead I know nothing about car brokers (probably because I'm confident enough myself to go through the whole business - (and quite enjoy it actually!)

I do know that new-car main dealers dislike them because of their negotiation skills which is a recommendation in itself I suppose!

However i'm in the process of looking for a small nippy nine year old car for my daughter, might be a slim chance but what would you be selling?

I've used drivethedeal.com twice and would do again. You can get an idea of the sort of discounts they can offer on their site, if you are serious you tell them the exact spec you are interested in, they give you an exact price which they have negotiated through reverse auctions with dealers, if you like the price you pay drive the deal £1000 depoist to secure the car and they connect you with the dealer.
