Shutterly Fabulous - Shutterly Disasterous

Postby sally2 » Mon Jun 20, 2011 7:22 pm

After placing an order with Shutterly Fabulous for shutters for our windows on the new extension, we waited 9 weeks for them to be delivered. When they were delivered last week, not one shutter fitted any of the the windows as all the pieces were cut incorrectly. On complaining to the company, they then sent an email saying that they could no longer fulfil our order, and subsequently have left us high and dry to go through the process again of now sourcing another shutter company and us waiting another 8 weeks to be fitted.

I would be wary of doing business with Shutterly Fabulous. They seem to think that sash windows that can be opened inwards (for cleaning purposes) are too ambitious for them to make shutters for.

I have now ordered shutters 3 times over the last 3 years as I have moved and put them in each house. Ican not recommend more highly a gentleman called Rob- 07771 594319. opennshut

Completly honest with you- and explains all shutters come/manufactured from China and take 8 weeks for delivery. He fits when they arrive.

I had a bay window that had movement and he managed to make them look great.

A little bit defensive if you question his prices but thats only because he is proud and he really does an amazing job with measuring. Takes ages and very exact.

Happy to give references and details of what I had fitted if you PM me.

Shutterly Apologetic - I am sorry

Postby verysorry » Sun Jul 03, 2011 9:01 am

Dear Sally

I was genuinely sorry to read your comments on here. I am one of the founders of Shutterly Fabulous, a company that we've strived to build, focused on providing a great shutter product with customer service and care that goes above and beyond. Clearly that was not the experience you encountered or the impression you have been left with.

I can say nothing other than hold up our hands and apologise - we got it wrong on this occasion and trust me - nothing hurts us more than having a disappointed customer. Making the customer happy, whatever it takes is an intrinsic business principle that all our team work to every day. I understand that despite the efforts of Sam and our team to find a solution that would work for you, it was felt that we could not meet your expectations and the best solution for you was to apologise and provide a full refund.

I wanted to post here not to jump on the defensive, but simply to apologise. I am sure in your capacity as a mother and life coach you encounter situations every day where people have made mistakes. We did and I am sincerely sorry we let you down.

Finally, I know Sally that your perception of our shutter company is unlikely to change. However, I'd hope that the favourable experiences that the vast majority of our customers enjoy goes some way to show that your experience was very much the exception rather than the rule.

Finally finally, thanks to the positive comments MM.
Sincere regards
Murray Clark

Hello,

Just a quick response to mungomuffit's comment re The New England Shutter Company- I understand the confusion as there are a lot of Shutter companies supplying shutters from China in this area, however we have NEVER sold shutters from China! We manufacture our shutters in our own factory which is based in Dubai and I can assure you it is an entirely ethically run factory. We source our sustainable woods from New England, USA and pride ourselves on the quality of our products and personal service.

Many thanks,
Harriet Shackleton
Marketing Manager, The New England Shutter Company.

I have to congratulate Murray for posting such an honest and apologetic response. Other firms take note! If I was in the market for shutters, I would definitely give them a try, despite the original post.

I too am a very happy customer of shutterly fabulous - i bought from them over 4 years ago on recommendation from a neighbour - i had quotes from over 5 companies and they were competitive and also were able to match my wall colour. I think that all companies can have off days and i too was impressed by the speedy response from the company. Sorry your experience was not as good as mine.

Use shutters up !!! I thought they did a great job for us - we used Nesc for half our windows and shutters up for the other half. Shutters up where cheaper, faster and did not have quite the same attitude as new England shutter company !!!!

I can recommend Hillary's for shutters, they did a brilliant job and were very professional.
But they are very busy these days, hence there is a long wait for quotes and delivery; so for our roman blinds I have decided to go local to Shaftesburys just of Northcote road. We were truly shafted by them... horrendous work on the house, quality awful and installation even worse.. they are coming 4th time to try to fix... Please beware and avoid using them if possible..

We went with The Traditional Shutter Company.

Very happy with the quality of the shutters, they delivered in around 4 weeks which is great compering to companies that supply from China.
