Hi - can anyone recommend any cool / trendy restaurants in the city for Hubby - going to surprise him! Thanks in advance!

Budget? Location? Type of food?

Fish: Smith's of Wapping. Possibly the best fish restaurant within the M25.

Italian: Locanda Locatelli near Marble Arch; Olivo Mare in Belgravia; Pescatori in Fitzrovia (seafood).

Japanese: Umu near Green Park (I think it's terribly overpriced but some colleagues love it).

Spanish: Iberica in Victoria or Hispania near Bank.

The Ned is an amazing building and has many different offerings, I've only ever been at lunch time and to the less formal restaurants.

City Social has great views, a really nice bar and is very smart with quality food you'd expect from Jason Atherton, good for a surprise I'd say!

sushi Samba’s very cool and fun. Great journey in the lift up to it too!

I was going to also suggest sushi samba or the new Coya is near bank and is meant to be really good ! I have only been for drinks and good atmosphere!

I am not a big fan of Hispana ....but I know others are!

Other amazing Italian is L’Anima begins Liverpool Street.

Another vote for City Social here too. Always nice to support your local chef, in addition to the great view and food!

Black Axe Mangal. Highbury corner. (Not too far from the City)
Very popular and highly recommended.
Top quality ingredients, very unique food and an unusual setting.
Loud rock music so not suitable if you're looking for a quiet romantic evening.
