As for co-ordinating picnic essentials, well I’d simply be lost. And don’t even get me started on the free coffee. I literally hyperventilated with relief when I saw it’s just having a refurbishment. It’d be even better if they could expand the store by getting rid of the library, I mean let’s face it. Waitrose do sell books. Surely it’s a no brainer.

Micro-sexism...

Let's mock the disappointment that causes the closure of a supermarket but god forbid we mock the legitimate drama that is the closure of a pub... ;)

I will miss it. The delicious roast chickens they make saves me cooking that evening which is a god sent as I have enough on my plate (despite my horrendous middle-classness). I rate their fine wines section. They stock Jackson's white bread which is yummy (others dont). They sell bone marrow which has many good properties (others dont).

I dont rate their coffee though. The best coffee is in my opinion at Brother Marcus or Brickwood.

I have heard they are putting a car dealership where poundland was. Is this true? Let's hope it is up to Talkman's standards... :D

Talkman...you seem to know Waitrose quite well?

Waitrose refurb is meant to be Aug/Sept time and it should stay open during the refurb for those that need their Fix!

Totally agree re the Library – it’s all digital now anyway. I’ve no idea where our staff would be able to a local “top up” from the weekly “big shop” at Fortnum and Mason if Waitrose closed. Can’t life be quite stressful sometimes ?

Further confirmation that Waitrose Balham isn't closing (in the immediate future, at least).
John Lewis just announced today 5 Waitrose stores will be closing, but Balham is not one of them.

The five are:
Spinningfields, Manchester, Manchester Piccadilly, Colemore Row, Birmingham and Portman Square, London, Camden, London.

The Nazis were keen on closing libraries too.

Is there anything further to add to this inane comment?
