ANTENATAL CLASSES...which one?

Postby MrsAliwal » Tue Apr 03, 2018 5:16 pm

Hello,

I'm pregnant, due in September. I'm currently looking into antenatal classes in the area and was wanting some recommendations. It will be my first pregnancy and I don't have any friends or family with children, so I thought it could also be a nice way to meet local mums and make new mum friends : )

The NCT classes are 300 pounds....is it worth it?

What other antenatal classes would you recommend?

Thank you,

Mrs Aliwal

I am a birth doula, yoga and Meditation/Mindfulness teacher and Fedant-registered Childbirth Educator based in the local area. I have been running antenatal classes for 12 years.
Battersea-based every Wednesday at 6pm my 12 week course combines Pregnancy Yoga with Mindfulness and Birth Preparation ensuring your body and mind are prepared for labour, birth and postnatal Life. You will also meet a lovely group of local women, have your own Whats App group and I will host a postnatal debrief for you all on the other side.
At just £156 for 12 classes, it represents a very good deal.
You can read the course currciulum here:

You can also read the review someone has posted a few threads down.
If you have any questions, please email Nadia@nadiaraafat.com

Many blessings on your pregnancy.

Thanks Nadia,

I will book your class today!!

My husband would like to attend an antenatal class with me also, so if anyone can recommend some classes in which parters can come, that would be much appreciated. I had a look at Bump and Baby Club, that looks good too (500 per couple). I guess that's just the going rate, so prepared to pay a bit for the classes. : )

I would highly recommend NCT - not for the classes themselves but just for the social aspect. I’m still in touch with my entire group nearly 14 years on from meeting them. I have such happy memories of our get-togethers after our babies were born.

Hey, we’ve just signed up to Bump and Baby Club as we heard really good things about it - it’s actually only £250 per couple.

Hi there!! I run baby massage and baby yoga classes on the first floor of The Northcote pub. It would be great to have yourself and baby along. My website is www.northcotebaby.com should you wish to take a look.

I’d like to recommend https://www.lulubaby.co.uk who cover everything in a more detail and are non preaching the way that NCT is. It is also ran by medical professionals so offers a really good information.
They also cover c sections and even if you don’t wish to have a c section they can happen in emergencies. Some of the girls on my course had done NCT and were not impressed so did the Lulubaby course and much preferred it.
Whatever you choose best of luck - exciting times ahead.

There are free antenatal classes online through http://www.amotherplace.com/
This was set up by two local mums and an Obstetrician and is a really great resource.
They also run normal group antenatal and other stuff through http://doctoranddaughter.co.uk

The Bump Class courses are brilliant. Owned and run by Marina Fogle (TV Adventurer Ben Fogle's lovely wife) and she has classes in South Kensington and Parsons Green. A really lovely, open minded (breast, bottle, formula, expressed, natural/c-section all welcomed) course which will give you access to some of the best London has to offer: Dr Chiara Hunt - GP and Geraldine Miskin (breast feeding expert) to name but two!
