Hello,
I am a local design consultant for Hillarys specialising in shutters. Consider aesthetics from your own personal point of view, larger panels give a more modern look and more light when closed. More panels means more wood and therefore less light when closed, however from a practical point of view the Tier on Tier configuration gives you a diverse range of options for letting light in. The panels will protrude less into the room when open if you go for 2:4:2 also. If you go for a light colour finish like white and bigger Louvre size (say 76mm) and a hidden tilt rod these elements will allow more light to come into the room when using the louvres.
As much as you think you will open the panels every day, you probably won’t! It’s more likely that you will use the louvres most of the time rather than open back the panels so take this into consideration too.
We have a brilliant app that will take a picture of your window and comp in the shutters so that you can see what it looks like. It is a visualisation tool but it can really help! I am happy to pop by and do this for you, just get in touch.
I hope this helps.
Warmest regards
Kristin
