I had my first daughter at 40 (nearly 41) - she was a happy unplanned event as my husband and I met in my late 30's. Then I had my second daughter at 44. She was planned (very luckily for us) almost to the day. From a health perspective, both the girls and I were healthy; and both (natural) births were straightforward and fine. But I won't lie to you - being pregnant aged 43/44 was no picnic - and much tougher (physically) than at 40. So would say go for it - but try and pop them out before you're 44!

All the best xx

As a birth doula, I have had lots of clients who are around the 40+ age and all have had healthy pregnancies, births and babies.

I admire women who have the courage give birth at 40s.
