Count me in if your pizzas are thin and crispy. The opposite of Franco Manca and Made in Italy would be good!

Looks like Jan restaurant at 78 Northcote Road is reopening with a new concept -- "Home of Good Food".

Buona Sera has been delivering exactly that for many years!

Oh do you mean serving up as opposed to delivering?

Yes, apologies, badly worded.

Although it does look like they do deliver via Deliveroo.

Vittorio wrote: Wed Jun 20, 2018 1:00 pm Hi, I am the founder of Manifesto, we're very excited to be opening in Northcote road where I lived and worked for many years. I know there is already a lot of pizza on the street but Manifesto will be organic and will be offering a very different kind of service for both eat in and takeaway.
We'll be announcing a local soft launch soon, I hope you can make it to see what we've done with the space and try some of our food!
Welcome to Northcote road Vittorio and best of luck with your enterprise! One small point worth considering.. please, please can you not make your pizza's too salty? Its my biggest bug bear with Made in Italy and Franca Manca. (I can't comment on Buona Sera as I prefer their pasta and salads!)

Sounds promising. Is that under the same ownership or different? I was sad they did away with the little wall Lolo Roja had that you could sit outside at.. it brightened up that corner. Similarly.. I find the large slab of meat hanging in Marcellaio's window really off putting, which is a shame as I love Tapas.

Perhaps its the warm weather but I'm all for alfresco eating at the moment!

The window display (really their meat curing room) is unsual, admittedly, but Macellaio is brilliant. Great food, excellent service, an absolute treat.

They also do an excellent value lunch deal, if you have never tried them.

Why is that slab of meat hanging there? Surely it can’t fail to draw in more customers if they take that down. Really odd and I’ve not been in because of it.

I can’t stand that slab of meat! My husband has been wanting to go there for a while now but I can’t bring myself to eat whilst staring at an animal carcass...

I know, whatever possessed them (even if it is fake). I’ve been tempted to put a note through the door or pop in and tell them that they’re losing a lot of business because of it. I’d like a nice local tapas to be there again.

Tinc, the stationery and toy shop near the antiques market is closing in a few weeks

They have blamed their landlord hiking their rent, surprise surprise...
The inflated rent would have apparently made the shop more expensive than their branches in Fulham and Wimbledon, and they couldn’t justify it
This is also why Cath Kidson has to shut

I am totally baffled by how on the one hand, we keep hearing about ‘the death of the high street’ and retailing trading conditions being tougher than ever
And yet landlords seem to think it’s a good time to milk shops to the point they have to close

That end of Northcote Road seems to be especially hard hit now Spar, Cath Kidson, the unit next to SDS and Tinc will all be empty
