Building children's confidence

Postby Mellymell123 » Fri Jun 29, 2018 3:54 pm

Hi all

Have two boys just entering that 'fun' pre-teen stage with different confidence issues.

One has been slightly battered by the school selection system who is retreating into himself and things he's a failure. The other desperate to be the best at something, but finding it hard, since his peer group seem to be alphas at everything.

Has anyone got any recommendations of people/activities that might help rebuild/build better self-esteem. Trying to do this from the home front, but think some external help/inspiration might be required.

Thanks

So sorry to hear you are having a hard time.

Find an obscure sport that no one else is doing and then he can excel at it free from a peer group.

Some strange martial art or something would do the trick.

Also is there anything that he could take up that might be seen as “Cool”. I know that one a parent thinks something is cool it’s usually so not but you get my drift.

I’m thinking of a DJ course etc

Good luck
