Have you used Koru Kids?

Postby Southsider » Mon Jul 09, 2018 9:02 pm

Just wondering whether anyone has any experience of using the agency Koru Kids? I'm looking for an after school nanny and these guys have come up and look interesting. Any intel greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I tried to use them as I know the owner, Rachel a little.

The only reason I didn't in the end is that they really struggled to find me an after school nanny that lived in my area. Most lived north of the river or near South Bank meaning that they couldn't get to me in time for school pick up.

Their book might have grown by now though so definitely worth seeing if they can match you with someone suitable.

We tried - they sent Cvs for 2 people which I jumped at and replied immediately saying I would like to interview them. Koru Kids didn't get back to me for several days then said the people were no longer available. Not heard anything since - this was 8 weeks ago.

Assuming they can not cope with demand but my experience has not been favourable.

A shame as a great idea

Not personally but a friend at work has (lives in East London). They sent her a candidate (a student) that she hired and she’s been happy with her and the arrangements with the agency.

We used Koru kids for short term help. They did come up with a lovely (albeit completely inexperienced - I had to explain how to run a bath for the children) candidate.
I was however shocked when I found out the nannies only get £8.50 per hour when the agency gets £12. I thought that really was not fair to either family or nanny - so much under the London living wage!

So a mixed impression in my view.

Bubble have just started offering a regular / long term sit option to be able to book drop offs and afterschool pick ups. All experienced sitters and are ID and background checked. It’s really easy to use the app. I have a referral code that gets you £10 off your first sit (for a normal one off or regular help) CBVPH
