Re: School Admissions Consultation - Belleville

Postby herogirl » Tue Jul 12, 2011 9:08 am

It seems that Belleville is now going to be an Academy, consultation is complete and the vote is in favour. They have to apply to the Department of Education before it is final. Does anyone know if the new proposed Academy is going to be sympathetic to the concerns of the local people viz a viz admissions? Did this come up during the consultation. Will have to rely on the Belleville parents as only parents were consulted.

Thank you.

I didn't know any of this so just did a little google search. It throws up information on this on the Belleville school site where they posted a FAQ document. here is a paragraph from the FAQ document about admission policy

"
7. Will the admission policy of the school
change?
The admissions policy of the school will remain the
same – Academy schools have to work in
partnership with Local Authority admission
arrangements. However, it does mean Governors
will not have to accept any changes proposed by
the Local Authority to our admissions policy in the
future. If Governors wanted to change the
admissions policy, they would need to undertake a
full consultation process and apply to the Secretary
of State for Education before being able to do so"
