RECOMMENDATION FOR AN ARCHITECT WHO KNOWS WELL WANDSWORTH BUILDING PERMIT REGULATION

Postby yvonne.galligan » Thu Dec 06, 2018 5:18 pm

Hello all,

We are looking to buy a property that'll need planning permission, full renovation / extension etc. Can anyone recommend an Architect in Battersea, who knows well the regulations of Wandsworth so we don't waste time & have a permit granted as quickly as possible.

Thanks a lot for your recommendations.

Kind regards
Yvonne

Hello Yvonne,

Are you still looking for a suitable architect? I know you posted this a few days ago.

Silke Trimborn of STARC Architects does a lot of work in the Wandsworth area, I would definitely vouch for her. You can reach her on her mobile which is 07879 832455, or her office number 02074017663. Email is info@starc-architects.com

Hi Yvonne, we are currently helping a client do exactly the same as you are considering in Wandsworth. Call or email if you'd like a discussion, all the best, Mike Lander, Director, Ensoul mike@ensoul.co.uk 020 3637 0700

I'd recommend Thomas & Spiers Architects - a biased recommendation though as I'm married to one of them. But they know Wandsworth well and you can see some of their work here:

Hi,

We used Armstrong Simmonds Architects for our loft extension after seeing examples of their work on their website. They were great to work with, with interesting ideas, good communication, whilst listening enthusiastically and carefully to our brief.
We now have a fantastic loft space which we couldn’t be happier with. I would highly recommend Armstrong Simmonds Architects to anyone.

Revive's Joe Purcell is a planning specialist. He used to work at the council. You can't find better.

We used Armstrong and Simmonds who seemed pretty knowledgable with Lambeth and Wandsworth planning rules. Our house was in tricky Lambeth but they got the extension through permitted development even though it was 4m rather than usual Max of 3 with something called prior approval.

Hi Yvonne,

We have just been through planning for a double mansard loft conversion. We have used an independent guy who came recommended. He's been super thorough, very accommodating and most of all patient. He has both listened to our suggestions whilst making sensible ones of his own and has experience with other properties in the area (Balham/ Mitcham/ Tooting). I’ve recommended on here before and believe a few have used him and have found him to be more reasonable than most - his email signature below.

Good luck with your project!

This is probably too late to help Yvonne, but is hopefully of use to anyone else in the future with the same question - I couldn't recommend the services of AURA - see aurahomes co uk/wandsworth-extensions-planning-architects-residential/
AURA cover the whole of Wandsworth with their architect services, and know the local building regulations and planning restrictions in detail, having done several projects in the area.
Probably the best contact at AURA is Ben, but any of their architects and designers seem to be very helpful, thorough, and good at listening to what's important to you before coming up with a scheme.
They also have fixed fees and work on your side to minimise costs, rather than inflating the project costs with impractical design features, like architects do that charge a percentage of the project value.

I second that - we used Joe and he was fantastic, used to work in Wandsworth Planning!
