Family Therapist - Need A Recommendation!

Postby wasban » Sat Dec 29, 2018 5:20 pm

I am struggling to find a family therapist specialist who can work with me and my 12-15 year olds, with specific emphasis on CBT techniques. I have been down 2 routes which turned out were not great - I would love any recommrndations out there in the Battersea/ Clapham area. Thank you if you have any!!

Try Amy, she’s been great for me. I don’t think she does cognitive but it’s worth speaking with her. She has rooms in Balham, Hildreth Street on a Wednesday. Shes 28 I believe so would be good for kids as well as adults.

Hi wasban,
I don't know what you have tried already but I would try:
1) Contacting my GP to see what services they can offer
2) Looking for systemic therapist - http://www.aft.org.uk/consider/view/consider.html
3) Asking for recommendations as you are doing here.
4) Googling is always an option but I just tried it and it is hard to filter through what comes up!

I am a local BACP registered psychotherapist seeing individuals not families.  However if you want to discuss the issues you are encountering with your family or services, PM me and I am happy to discuss further with you by whatever means suits you.  No charge for that!

Have a good day,

David

Hi Wasban,

I am a BABCP accredited CBT therapist. I and run a service called My Therapist Online which matches people with the best therapist for their needs who deliver treatment online (video therapy using a platform of your choice such as Skype). The CBT treatment is the same as in clinic, but it can be a much more convenient option for people as it doesn't involve travel, waiting rooms or indeed waiting lists.

We have a super therapist who I can recommend called Shirey Becker. She is a clinical psychologist with CBT training and family therapy experience. You can read her profile here if you are interested.

Shirey Becker's Professional Profile

If you are interested in setting up a free initial consultation with Shirey or indeed one of the other CBT therapists or Clinical Psychologists, then you can register you interest through the website or HERE

I hope this helps. Kindest regards, Lisa
