I heard about this on the weekend! It's unbelievable, and I thought my mother in law was bad!!

I think that by going global with this email, the daughter in law is the one who is culpable here. She has fallen into a trap of her own making. Alienating her boyfriend and mother in law is not a good start to a marriage. Scottish castles etc. also make me cringe. I have more sympathy with the Mother in law, who may have slightly overstepped the mark about the finances of Heidis' family, but it sounds like Heidi needs a reality check.

I dozed off when I first met my parents in law after a massive dinner they produced. I was mortified! A little humility goes a long way.

If agree with @carojo, never a good idea to air dirty laundry worldwide!

the article is very biased as we're not told what Heidi had/hadn't done to provoke such an email - the mother-in-law-to-be seems to be vilified out of proportion! Not all in-laws are the devils spawn ;)

(and no, I'm not an in-law!!)

I think this calls for better communication between the 2 women & also Heidi setting HER expectations more realistically (based on what's been written, which I've already noted is biased so this might not even be necessary !!)

I recently read that her son wanted to patch things up! I don't think there is a paper in the UK which hasn't published that email, it went viral.
