It follows the basis for the climate emergency that the London Authority has already unanimously declared. Unusually it is allowing under 18's to sign as it is an issue which will affect them gravely.
At present we are are on target to hit 3-4° of warming which is a long way from the internationally agreed MAXIMUM of 1.5°. The intergovernmental panel on climate change bought that target down from 2° which was decided would be too destructive for civilisation and this petition asks that WBC comes up for a plan which deals with 'our bit' and to report back within 6 months. As our school children go on strike across the world this seems like the very least we can do to help. 10,000 signatures are needed for this for the council to have a full debate on this, so please sign and share!
