Oh and Please come on the march for a Peoples Vote on Saturday. It's forecast to be dry, there will be an amazing family atmosphere and it's one of our last chances to show the government they are #notonmyside.

Brexit was criminally procured and justice will soon be catching up with the dark money and those who perpetrated electoral fraud. The recent revelation that Arron Banks disregarded the break in campaigning after the murder of Jo Cox, in fact urged his employees to 'push it harder', tells us all something about the moral vacuum in which this campaign was conducted. Utterly disgusting behaviour, respect the frauderendum? Not a chance.

I quote from the Nappy Valley website.

"NappyValleyNet launched in 2009. Our aim? To create a gorgeous mash-up of your best friend, your next door neighbour and that well-connected schoolgate mum, all wrapped up in a website! Every day we help users choose schools, recruit nannies, recommend builders, find holidays and still find time for relationship advice and a gossip"

Please use a different website/forum for posts of this nature.

cjdad, I'd venture this post is a combination of next-door neighbour, relationship advice and gossip, so it's rather appropriate. You're very new to this forum, so I'll cut you some slack, but the consensus among this community has, since the EUref, been that posts of this nature are fine, as long as people are civil. Many of us remainers take heart from being able to find support and people who share our views on here. If it doesn't interest you, scroll past, but please don't start trying to tell those of us who have been active members of this forum for many years, what they can and can't post, it really isn't your place. I hope that clears things up and I hope, as I do, that you will find this site useful for all sorts of things.

I'd hazard a guess that you'd need to get more than "17.4 million" signatures on this petition in order to get any substantial movement.

Actually, Angela Leadsome said yesterday, that they'd have to take note if it did break 17.4 million – so perhaps there is a chance.

Won't and can't happen, happy to take bets.  Parliament will not revoke Article 50 without a referendum and I don't think it's possible to suspend it.  It would be wholly unconstitutional.  Bearing in mind (as I understand it) the majority of Parliamentary seats voted Leave, M.P's will not be the turkeys voting for Christmas.  Another referendum is possible but it would take Corbyn (a Brexiteer) to seize the day, or for May to be deposed in a Tory coup.

Absolutely can happen – might be a debate about whether it will happen. We know there is a parliamentary majority against no deal, it follows from that there must also be a majority for a further extension, or revocation of art 50, if there is not a deal that can gain a majority. It may take some time to get to that point…

If a Brexiteer says she'll have to take note, then it isn't a wasted effort, or a completely pointless exercise.

Happy to take a bet that there will not be a revocation of Article 50 without a referendum or general election.

You just moved from "without a referendum" to "without a referendum or general election". Hardly firm ground to stand on.

Happy to take either option.  Even less likely without a General Election as there would be no mandate for it.  Assuming the majority of Parliamentary M.P's are against leaving the EU, the majority of Parliamentary seats voted to Leave.  Both leaders of the major parties are either Brexiteers and/or against a referendum.  A revocation would amount to a Parliamentary 'coup d'etat'.  I cannot see how such a binding members bill would come to a vote.  If anyone can explain that to me, I'd be interested to read it.

How could anyone have a bet with you, every time you post you move your position? You've now moved from whether the commons could vote to revoke art 50 to whether that vote would be binding.

On that basis it is arguable whether the 2016 referendum is binding, since there was no form of Brexit on the ballot paper (which is why we're in such a mess now). Brextremists who claim "leave means leave" and that the people have had one say already, conveniently forget the Leave campaigners like Daniel Hanlon were arguing that we could leave and stay in the single market, and that Farage conceded defeat on the evening of 23 June 2016, but went on to say "We may have lost the battle, but we will not lose the war".

That hardly represents some fixed view of Brexit or respect for the process.

I'll take that as a 'no' then.  By the way the status of the 2016 referendum is still being debated - https://fullfact.org/europe/was-eu-referendum-advisory/

My point on 'binding vote' you've misunderstood.  I don't understand how it would ever get to a point in a Commons vote where the outcome would be 'binding'.  Parliamentary proceedure is quite complex on this point.

Lastly, given I voted Remain, I don't have a fixed view of Brexit, just that a simple revocation of Article 50 is not going to happen.

If May's deal is defeated in Parliament next week then it is probably off the table - and she may be finished as PM.  That leaves 'no deal' and .... something else as the options.  The only certainty in this mess is that there is a BIG majority in parliament against no deal.  The only way Parliament can ensure unilaterally that no deal does not happen is by revoking Article 50, so the probability of that must be increasing.

Political cover might come from the petition (over 3.4 milllion as I write) and the fact that evefry opinion poll since March 2018 as shown a majority for Remain.  One possible outcome is combining revocation with a promise of another referendum (now, wouldn't that be exciting ........).
