Child friendly SW11 Dentist

Postby britchick » Fri Aug 06, 2010 3:19 pm

I need to take my son for his first visit to dentist and would love to find a child friendly dentist, ideally near Northcote road. Any recommendations?

Try this one:

http://www.ukdentistsdirectory.com/McArthur/

which is on the corner of Ashness Rd and Webb's Rd-they haven't seen my daughter as a patient yet (apparently they don't start until 2 or so) but they were very friendly, and she came into the room with me at my appointment and they were good at talking to her/distracting her etc.

I've also heard good things about 'Glow' which is actually ON Northcote Rd, however, not sure if it is NHS or not?

Hope that helps.

Hey there,

I can certainly recommend Glow dental on Northcote Road.

I cannot remember the dentists name annoyingly enough but they are new and I got the impression that he was currently the only one.

My then 13 month old had managed to knock one of her front teeth back in (!!) and chip 3 of them. He was kind, gentle and managed against all odds to file the chips without her being in the least bit concerned.
He has kids himself so is really patient... and he had a stuffed teddy that was a tooth with a toothbrush that helped to amuse.
Top chap.

He also spent lots of time explaining to me what had happened. Going through info from the Maxio Facial consultant and even drew diagrams to explain how first teeth roots work.

Hope that that helps.

Nick at Oasis dental on Battersea Rise is absolutely wonderful. he has looked after my 2 girls and very nervous husband for 2 years now. He is lovely - and I think would be good with a little boy too. He was asked by another dentist - an orthodentist - to extract 6 of my daughter's milk teeth as they were terribly crowded - for orthodontic purposes - which was very traumatic for us all - and he was superb. Caring, kind and reassuring.

Thanks for your replies, I'll see if we can get in to Glow as very close. Of course in the meantime my 15mon daughter has managed to knock a tooth out! :o

I went to GLOW following the recommendation here for exam and clean. Found it very high tech and good at marketing all the services to get your 10 out of 10 teeth. The clean itself was the least thorough I have had, a bit rough, too; there wasn't even flossing. Still going back to replace filling, but can't say I have found my 10/10 dentist yet.

Rosemary,

The Oasis dental care. Is that St Johns Hill rather than Battersea Rise?

I've just joined there and struggling to find a decent dentist there.

I can really recommend Dental Art Studio on St John's Rd near Waterstones. I have only ever seen Dr Edin and he is lovely and gentle - will look at your child's teeth with your child sitting on your lap, demonstrated the check up on me first so my daughter knew what was going to happen. Generally very thorough with every check up I have had with no over sell on fillings etc (problem I've encountered at other practices) He was also good at speaking in code to me about my daughter's thumb sucking so not to alarm her! Dr Edin and another dentist also specialise in nervous patients / sedation. There is a profile of each dentist on their website. Often a week or two to get an appointement. I registered as an nhs patient, it is much cheaper (£16.50 for a check up and around £45 for the Hygeniest) and I don't think much if any difference between that and being a private patient.
