Looking for a good joiner to do a front door

Postby aevinnoymksed » Tue May 14, 2019 5:49 pm

Please help!  Moving in to the Clapham area shortly and need to replace our Victorian front door. So far have approached the London Door Company who (eventually) disclosed their prices to me, and we certainly can't afford that! Recommendations very much appreciated!

The Bespoke Front Door Company https://www.bespokefrontdoor.co.uk/ did a wonderful job for us and we would recommend them unhesitatingly.

You mean you don’t fancy paying £6000 for a front door ? We also approached Ayrton who quoted close to £8000!
I ended up having my builder do it for around £3000- doors aren’t cheap .
Ironically they are installing it this minute. When it is finished and if I’m happy with it I can ask if he would be happy for me to refer and write back .?

These guys (I had a recommendation on this site for them) did an absolutely fab job for me - replaced both the door and door frame and did a glass door for less than the London Door Company quoted for the door itself, and with Banham locks instead of cheaper ones. I get a lot of compliments on my door - please PM me if you would like a photo!
They are great all-round builders and since the door, they have also done my bathroom and a loft renovation!

This is a relevant topic question and I'm hoping someone has an answer!

I want to keep my existing front door, but it hasn't been painted / looked after since installed 11 years ago.

Who should I seek out? A door company? An individual carpenter? Or just a general decorator/handyman?

Looking for:
- Repainting the door and woodwork surrounding
- Install a smart lock for me
- Replace the existing door furniture for me (knocker, handle, letterbox slot)

Boonkoh

Billy Kikidis on 07538 580397 for a job like that. Honest, will do an excellent job and reasonable cost (but won’t be the cheapest).
