Hi Strawberry3,

I think I am a little late here but thought I would post just in case the below blog is relevant and useful to you. It covers many aspects of a loft conversion, discussing things like the design, top tips, practical considerations, building regulations, planning and party wall too. I actually wrote it following a request from clients for a 'how to' guide.... I hope it helps... https://www.calsurv.co.uk/surveyorsnotes x

Hiya

We had our rear extension done with GreenLife contractors, I know they do loft conversions as well as we did ask but found our budget couldn't allow it just yet ! They are a small family design and build, deffo worth a reach out and contact them in regards to a quotation.

best of luck hun x

Just a quick note to those advertising your services. Although, we appreciate new companies offering their services to our members (that they might not have been aware of), this part of the forum is not for advertising, especially when you post more than once! We do monitor this and will remove posts. So please be mindful when responding to a post as we don't want this thread to be clogged up with adverts.

Many thanks for your understanding.

Hey all - just a note for anyone looking at loft conversions - Lambeth council now do NOT allow L-shaped conversions (ie the pod room over outriggers) - this is a very recent change and has caught many residents, builders and architects offside...

A local resident has set up a petition to ask Lambeth to allow L-shaped lofts under full planning permission as is the case in Wandsworth... and would be grateful for signatures!

Hi,

Me and my husband went through the whole process trying to get a suitable building firm to do our work.

We've now found a a building company that has come well within budget and doing an excellent job. The job is now two thirds complete. Please feel free to pop by the site if you wish to receive real first hand experience of what we went through. We're normally onsite on Saturdays.

Our honest advice is obtain references and visit examples of work that has been done recently or is in progress.

Hope this helps.

Well where do I start... We have just endured the same process. Took slightly longer than hoped but these thing always do right?! Pleased to say the dust is finally settling and our new sofa arrives Tuesday. I got so into our home I even started an instagram page (sad I know but I can hide behind my screen and shamelessly post about hanging plants and colour charts)!! Still waiting for my breakthrough moment but check it out... @1morestorey

All jokes aside, we used a great guy as our architect, he was super patient, really thorough and new all the regs for our grand design - would highly recommend!

Our builder on the other hand!! I wouldn’t... let me know if you need any more info.

Hi All,
this post is quite old but was very useful to me when I was looking for loft conversion! After doing my research and having a few quotes in, we have decided to go with Clapham Construction Service which have been brilliant so far!!We are 2.5 weeks of completing the project and the team have been amazing. The quotes they provide includes EVERYTHING meaning, so it is guaranteed no to go over budget! I would RECOMMEND them highly!

Hi,
Thanks for the posts, contacted most of them and got quotes for a loft conversion in Battersea. Clapham Construction Service seem to be the best on meeting them and the quality of the quote. They also let me see their recent and current sites before decided. Haven’t used their design service, as we had this already, so can’t comment.

So far so good and 1 week ahead of schedule and impressed.

Details above are Incorrect - the directors name is dan and email is info@claphamconstructionservice.com. He is also the project manager

Hey, I may be too late buttt...

We used a company called Hamilton Walters, I think I've put a recommendation up for them on here a while back?

We where impressed with the detail of their quotation and the effort they out in initially. They kept us up to date throughout and gave good advice when required with regards to the build itself which resulted in an increase in our overall headheight.
The job was ran efficiently and although any building project comes with its own stress, they kept us in the loop with everything.

Have actually got them back in for some roofing works on another one of our properties which is currently on-going and so far so good there as well!

His number is: 077 8000 4007
info@hamiltonwalters.com

Hope this helps!

Good luck :)
