Exercises with kids

Postby DadofTwins » Tue Apr 21, 2020 9:03 am

Hi!

I don't know if it is a good place to start but I was wondering if you have any ideas how to keep your child occupied. But not by putting him or her in front of TV or a tablet. More likely, do you have any ideas for activities we can do together?

I have 4yo twins and they can be a handful. But I try to focus on coming up with interesting activities. We tried painting and making paper flowers (it is extremely important to get edible, non toxic glue and crayons, trust me) and coloring of course. I would be interested in more physical activities I can do at home. Do you have any ideas or links to some exercises you can do with little kids?

My two have been lots of Captain Fantastic stuff. They have live exercises classes every day and they are themed (like Paw Patrol, Animals Etc) and so are much more focused on 3- 6 yo. If you look up Captain Fantastic Childrens Entertainment on Facebook all the video links are there. They also do a craft and story time live shows too

Depends on what your twins are into.

Sporty Minis (https://www.facebook.com/sportyminis/) have a great session on Wednesdays and Fridays mornings. It definitely involves parents.

Baking Pizza. The pizza dough comes ready made, you can get pre-shredded cheese and use boxed passata and ham slices.

Doing treasure hunts with clues and prizes.

Themed parties (yesterday we had an animal party. We played all the toddler animal board games. We baked a cake and cookies.) Note; We drastically reduce the amount of sugar in each. You can PM me for recipe ideas if you like?)

Collecting leaves at the park to identify. (We did this on Saturday, one leaf had a caterpillar on it so we now have that in a jar...)

Also, regarding screen time, some shows / games can be more educational than others

Shawn the Sheep has a learning to reading app. As does the Gruffalo. Playschool have released some nursery rhyme (learn to read) apps

There are a few "educational" shows. Yo Gabba Gabba on YouTube. Amazon Prime has Super Wings. Netflix has Storybots and Space Rangers. Probably most things on C Beebies but Andy's Adventures and anything by Justin comes to mind. There could be others

Hi. Just wanted to make sure you were aware of Twins Trust and all of the resources they have.  This may not be exactly on point, but wanted to post anyway in case its useful.  Good luck.  My twin boys are 11 so its a bit easier at this age!
