Hi Guys. Hope everyone is well in these testing times. I have to bored kids at home and I have done every activity I can think of to keep them entertained. One of my children is 4 and the other is 2. I am just wondering what everyone else is doing to keep their little ones busy?

Hi there

We have a three and four year old in the house and have found the following apps educational and entertaining - you can always play with them if you want to be a bit more engaged.
- Khan Academy Kids
- Moose Maths
- Teach Your Monster to Read
- Go Jetters, fix that glitch

If you have the space for it, I would recommend a 7ft trampoline in the garden - they absolutely love theirs and it burns a lot of excess energy. We have a very small garden with a Sportspower ‘My first Trampoline’ and I believe Plum do a similar one.

If you have a printer, there is a website called Twinkl which is offering free resources to loads of colouring and activity sheets. The Disney Store also has free printable colouring and activity sheets.

The Five Minute Mum Book is an absolute saviour for this age range too and is packed with activities to do at home with young kids using bits you’re likely to have at home already. It cost £10 on Amazon and has next day delivery.

please check out your library online services, most are still running baby rhyme time and story time as well as craft ideas /sessions not just Wandsworth but check out other boroughs most have ebooks magazines and comics on line and lots of other ideas and groups there. most boroughs are letting you join online .

Have you done Any of classes online? My son’s (3.5) favourite is RagDolly Anna’s, Drama Tots, Boogie Mites we also so and slightly entertaining for my baby too. Puzzles, and activity books ((wipe clean) reusable stickers/normal we do quite a bit too. I have also done a couple of themed days with eldest which he has loved.

I second themed days. I let my eldest (4) chose. We've done Easter, animals, pirate. It helps if you already have games for the theme. Rainbow has been ongoing. We've made rainbow pasta (very easy), rainbow pancakes and rainbow cookies. Imagine dinosaurs, space and pretend Christmas will be next. For pretend Christmas, I'm thinking we each make something to exchange.

Eldest has also baked pizzas, made caterpillars from bunting, done sporty minis by zoom with nursery friend.

I bought a large plastic tray from amazon and use it as a nursery tray- fill it with lots of different things each day. Sand one day, foam another day, fagke snow, bubble water, etc. You can even buy these kits that make slime if you add some powder to water (I think it’s called gelli). Then you get some toys and put them in the tray with whatever is in there. You can also put paint in the tray and then use toy cars to zoom around the paint and then make paint-tyre tracks.
Also, the baker Ross website has loads of arts and crafts activities, which are a life saviour sometimes. Or hobbycraft has some too. We also do a lot of disco ‘parties’ and treasure hunts, there is a treasure hunt game on amazon, I can’t remember the exact bake and it’s downstairs (!), but they love it and it makes treasure hunts easy to organise. Face painting and pretend salons with kid friendly nail polish are another winner. Glitter tattoos, glow sticks. She also loves a game we call potions where we stick lots of random things into a plastic bottle and pretend we are magicians....

Hi, our favorite activities are: reading books, board games, watching cartoons/movies. Thank you for sharing your ideas, I liked a lot of what you suggested. Now I see that we also need to diversify our activities.Your ideas are very cool and I am sure that the children will appreciate it. By the way, I forgot to tell you that I found worksheets for children with exciting tasks. I have printed them out and they are happy to fill them out. Honestly, I also fill them out with my children and I like it, because in my childhood I couldn't even dream of such a thing.This way they learn something new during the game. Because these tasks are more like different games than lessons. If you want, you can find 99worksheets and print them for free. I'm sure your children will like them too. There are tasks for preschoolers and primary school students there.
